Taskmaster to become a virtual reality game

Watch the trailer featuring Alex Horne and Greg Davies

Taskmaster is being turned into a virtual reality video game.

Greg Davies and Alex Horne have been digitised for the new release, in which players will take on challenges such as  smashing melons or tidying rubber ducks.

Horne – who created the series as well as acting as Davies’s sidekick – said: ‘Genuinely, this is extraordinary, brilliant and very fun. Also, I've always wanted to be a contestant on Taskmaster so this is great for me as a VR user.'

Davies added that the developers had 'done an incredible job', adding: On a personal note, the creation of a virtual reality Taskmaster takes me ever closer to my ultimate goal of working without even leaving my sofa.'

Both stars have leant their voices to the game and developers Scallywag Arcade say: ‘Taskmaster VR brings all the manic mayhem of the international TV comedy sensation to virtual reality. Drop, grab, poke, prod, throw - it’s all on the table in your quest to please The Taskmaster.

‘The Taskmaster and his assistant will have plenty to say about your efforts in a fully voice acted performance from Greg Davies and Alex Horne. Expect scorn, praise and everything in between.’

Scallywag Arcade’s head of games Niall Taylor added: ‘The world of Taskmaster is perfect for VR. Combining the hilarity of the show with the freedom of virtual reality gives players an immersive (and slightly mad) experience.’

The Liverpool-based studio has released this trailer giving a glimpse at some of the games on offer.

Taskmaster VR will be released on Meta Quest and Steam VR, although an exact release date is yet to be confirmed.
