British Podcast Awards 2023 nominees revealed
The nominations for the 2023 British Podcast Awards have been announced.
This year, there are more than 150 nominees across 27 categories with winners set to be announced at a London ceremony on September 28 hosted by. Zoe Lyons and Stephen Bailey.
Up for best comedy podcast are:
- Bang On It with Michelle De Swarte and Laura Smyth
- Elis James and John Robins
- From the Oasthouse: The Alan Partridge Podcast
- Sports Horn with Anthony Richardson and Mark Davison, ‘The Exploding Heads, aka online sketch duo
- The Skewer
- French & Saunders: Titting About, Series 3
And there is some overlap with the best entertainment category, whose shortlist is:
- British Scandal with Alice Levine and Matt Forde
- Elis James and John Robins
- Eureka! with Rick Edwards and Dr Michael Brooks
- Help I Sexted My Boss with William Hanson and Jordan North
- NearlyWeds with Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing
- RHLSTP with Richard Herring
- Three Little Words with John Bishop and Tony Pitts
- French & Saunders: Titting About, Series 3
Herring, pictured, is also up for best interview podcast for RHLSTP.
Comics are shortlisted in other categories with James Acaster and Ed Gamble’s Off Menu up for the Spotlight Award – for shows with more than 100,000 downloads per episode – alongside That Peter Crouch Podcast and Kathy Burke’s Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake
Brown Girls Do It Too, hosted by Rubina Pabani and Poppy Jay, is up for best sex or relationship podcast along with Rosie Wilby’s The Breakup Monologues, while Snooked, hosted by stand-ups Des Clarke and Amy Matthews, is shortlisted in the sport category.
