Comedian Anna Thomas makes a Bigfoot film
Former BBC New Comedian of The Year winner Anna Thomas has made her first film – about a lonely bigfoot living a secret existence in a Welsh woodland.
Now her debut – which co-stars fellow comics Jo Enright and Matt Rees – is to air on BBC One in Wales next week.
Thomas plays the titular Lady Bigfoot, who has discussions with the squirrels, enjoys spiders in her ears and has an obsession with worms, while Rees is a friendly park-keeper and actor Jimmy Johnson an obsessive crypto-zoologist who is determined to prove the Bigfoot’s existence.
Thomas said: 'I feel so blooming fortunate to have been given the opportunity to make this - it was my first attempt at writing a film script, and one of my first times doing "proper" acting, so it was all a bit of a surreal experience.
‘However, I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented team of people, and I learned so, so much in the process of making Lady Bigfoot.
‘When [producers] Beastly asked if I had any character ideas and I suggested a Welsh Bigfoot, I honestly thought they’d roll their eyes and print off my email just so that they could bin it, but thank goodness they liked the idea and embraced it.'
The 15-minute film – produced by Sarah Breese and Dan Thomas and directed by Ryan Andrew Hooper will air on BBC One Wales at 10.40pm next Tuesday, July 4, then be available on iPlayer
