Two-hour celebration for Channel 4

Joe Lycett is celebrating Pride with a two-hour ‘big queer party’ from his Birmingham hometown on Channel 4.

The show comes six months after the comic’s similar Mummy's Big Christmas Do! for the broadcaster was pulled just days before transmission because of Covid concerns.

The new celebration will feature fellow comedians Mawaan Rizwan, Jen Ives and Rosie Jones, who will be reporting out on the road.

Musical acts include Boy George and Culture Club, Steps and Self Esteem, while other guests include Hollywood superstar Rupert Everett;  Joe Locke and Yasmin Finney from Netflix hit Heartstopper; It’s A Sin’s Olly Alexander,  Drag Race queens Tia Kofi and Tayce and Danny Dyer ‘making a cameo from the closet’.

Lycett joked: ‘As a straight white man who works in scaffolding I’m not quite sure why I’ve been asked to host this?’

The show will air later this summer, as the climax of Channel 4’s Proud All Over programming celebrating 50 years of Pride in the UK, and will include a countdown of the top 10 LGBTQ+ TV moments.
