BGT winner Axel Blake announces his first tour
Axel Blake has announced his first national tour, In Style, following his success in winning Britain’s Got Talent on Sunday.
The news comes as Nick Helm, Vir Das and Hal Cruttenden also announce new tour dates.
Blake’s kicks off in September with dates spreading through to April 2023 – including one at London’s Eventim Apollo, where his winning performance on the ITV talent show took place.
He was Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer pick on the show, and as well as scooping £250,000 prize he will appear on this year’s Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall on December 1, which has already sold out.
Meanwhile, Nick Helm has announced a new tour for the autumn, entitled, What Have We Become. The stand-up and Uncle star will be performing almost 20 dates following a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe.
It promises no less than being a ‘show so insightful, so honest, so legitimate that it will fix all of society’s problems and lead the way to a new plane of existence.’
Helm said: ‘Can’t wait for the tour. Can’t wait for Christmas. Can’t wait for Easter. Absolutely chomping at the bit to go on tour and show off these new pills I’m on.’
He is also recording a third studio album, following 2013’s Hot ‘n’ Heavy and Nick Helm is Fucking Amazing in 2016
Indian comic Vir Das has announced nine dates for his new show Wanted, which also follow his Fringe run.
It is described as ‘a show about freedom, a journey into foolishness, and a perspective that takes you across the world’.
Das has five Netflix specials to his name – with the latest, For India, nominated for an international Emmy – has appeared in Bollywood films and was hailed by Variety magazine as a ‘top 10 comic to watch’.
His UK tour stars at Home in Manchester on September 1 and concludes at the Beck Theatre in Hayes, West London, on September 13.
Cruttenden has extended his tour, It’s Best You Hear It From Me, so it now extends to 62 dates.
The autumn leg comprises dates rescheduled from the spring, when he was undergoing a split from his wife of almost 22 years, Dawn.
That experience – and his attempts to resume dating for the first time this millennium – forms the basis of the show, which launches at the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe this August before kicking off a UK tour on September 9 at Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre. It now runs until April 2023.
Promoters say: ‘This show isn’t just for those who’ve been through divorce and single people who need cheering up. It’s also for blissfully happy couples who can’t imagine that their marriage will fail, and that smug look will be wiped off their face.’
Tickets for all the Axel Blake, Nick Helm and Vir Das tours go on sale at 10am on Friday. Most of Cruttenden’s are on sale already.
