Amazon sets a release date for Iain Stirling’s comedy special
Failing Upwards was delayed by almost two years by Covid
Iain Stirling’s first Amazon Original stand-up special is to be released on Prime Video on May 27, it has been announced
Failing Upwards was taped in London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre in November and covers the comedian’s ‘inability to function in the most basic of public settings, the pressures of being in the public eye and that one time a man stole his shoes’
It was originally due to be recorded at the King’s Theatre in his Edinburgh hometown in 2020, but was delayed by 20 months by the coronavirus.
The release in more than 200 countries and territories comes after the live tour, his biggest yet, ended at Dublin’s Vicar Street on Sunday.
Stirling is best known for providing the voiceover for Love Island, while his entertainment show CelebAbility, returns to ITV2 for a sixth series this summer. He also created, wrote and starred in the millennial sitcom Buffering for the same channel last year.
The released of Falling Upwards will come three weeks after the next series of Soho Theatre Live stand-up specials drop on the platform
Shows from Mark Watson, Felicity Ward, Spencer Jones, Luisa Omielan, Suzi Ruffell, Michael Odewale, Olga Koch and Natalie Palamides, Alfie Brown and Anuvab Pal will be available from May 6.
