Geoffrey Rush to play Groucho Marx

New biopic about the comedian’s later life

Geoffrey Rush is set to play Groucho Marx in a movie about the comedian’s later life.

The Kings’ Speech star has been cast in Raised Eyebrows, an adaptation of the memoirs of Steve Stoliar, a fan who Marx hired as his assistant in his later years

Writer-director Oren Moverman said he hoped the film would ‘reintroduce the genius of Groucho Marx in a new, provocative, entertaining way’, adding:  ‘Steve Stoliar has given the world incredible insight into a bygone era. Done right, we will screw it up royally.’

Charlie Plummer will play Stoliar, and Sienna Miller will be Erin Fleming, Groucho’s companion and manager at the time.

This will not be Rush’s first time playing a comedy legend: he previously portrayed Peter Sellers in a 2004 biopic.
