BBC One acquires one-night-stand comedy Cheaters
BBC One is to air a new short-form comedy-drama Cheaters, about the aftermath of a one-night stand.
Told in 18, ten-minute chapters, the show – which stars Year Of The Rabbit’s Susan Wokoma (pictured) and Industry’s Joshua McGuire – is described as ‘a sexy, messy, comedy-drama about morality and monogamy, and everything in between’.
Following a chance meeting after a cancelled flight, two twentysomething strangers indulge in an unlikely night of drunken airport-hotel sex. The next morning, as they rush to make the rescheduled flight, both admit they are with other people. After arguing at the airport and ignoring each other on the plane, they finally agree their night of passion was a mistake and go their separate ways. But then they realise they are also neighbours…
The series was created by breakout writer Oliver Lyttelton and has been made by from Clerkenwell Films, the producers of The End of the F***ing World, Misfits, Lovesick and The Dig.
Ted Lasso’s Elliot Hegarty directs and the cast also includes Callie Cooke, Jack Fox, Andrea Valls, Shiloh Coke and Jay Lycurgo.
It starts on Tuesday February 8 at 9.45pm on BBC One, and all episodes will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer.
