As company renews efforts to remake estate agent show for the US

Stath Lets Flats and People Just Do Nothing makers Roughcut TV has hired two new development producers.

The news comes as Hollywood website Deadline reports that the company is to renew its efforts to pitch a US remake of Jamie Demetriou’s comedy to the US. It was previously announced that a version was in development with Fox, entitled Bren’s Rents.

Ben Worsfield, producer of Spencer Jones’s The Mind of Herbert Clunkerdunk, and Inez Gordon, whose credits include This Country, have now joined Roughcut to work across both comedy and drama projects.

Inez Gordon and Ben Worsfield

Worsfield was previously a senior development producer at Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s company Stolen Picture; while Gordon worked BBC Studios for seven years. She also produced Gbemisola Ikumelo’s Brain In Gear, which has been commissioned for a full BBC Two series following a successful 2019 pilot.

Alex Smith, head of scripted programmes as Roughcut, said: ‘We’re really excited to welcome two hugely talented and brilliant new development brains to Roughcut. Inez and Ben bring bags of creativity, energy and experience to the team as we continue to develop comedy and drama for all major broadcasters.’

Meanwhile, The Mind of Herbert Clunkerdunk returns to BBC Two at 10pm on Wednesday. There's an interview with the stars and an exclusive preview clip here.
