Sky confirms return of futuristic cop comedy

Sky has commissioned a third series of Code 404 - the futuristic crime-fighting comedy starring Stephen Graham, Daniel Mays and Anna Maxwell Martin.

The broadcaster today released the above photograph of the cast at rehearsals for the new series.

Joining the cast are Timewasters creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who will play journalist Searle, and Vinette Robinson, who played Rosa Parks in Doctor Who and Sgt Sally Donovanin Sherlock, as forensic psychologist Professor McAllister

Returning actors include  Rosie Cavaliero, Michelle Greenidge, Richard Gadd, Amanda Payton, Tracy-Ann Oberman and Michael Armstrong. This series also introduces to the cast.

The second series of the programme, which started in September, was the biggest  launch in the history of the Sky Comedy channel. A total of 502,000 viewers watched it in the week it began.

Mays plays AI-enhanced ‘supercop’ DI John Major and his Graham is his long-suffering partner DI Roy Carver, who in the new series will hunt down whoever killed one of their fellow officers.

No broadcast date has yet been announced for the new six-episode series, but it is expected some time next year.
