New project from Little Britain duo

David Walliams and Matt Lucas are planning to bring a new TV show to screens next year.

The talent show judge says he has been working with his Little Britain co-star on ideas and characters for the new project.

Speaking on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, Walliams said: ‘We’re sort of meeting up and we’re gonna do something. Matt is obviously super-busy because he’s got the Bake Off and he’s doing some other big, important things.

‘So we’re gonna get together and hopefully do a new show, so we’ll see what happens. It’s exciting.’

On the show, which airs on Channel 4 tonight, Gilligan asked Walliams whether it would be a Little Britain sequel, and he replied: ’Well, I don’t know. I think it’ll be something new – a TV series.’

And as for a timetable, he said:‘We’ve got to write it first. These things take quite a long time, creating lots of new characters and stuff, but hopefully in the next year or so we’ll hopefully get something on the screens.’

Walliams and Lucas revived Little Britain for Radio 4 in 2019, while some of the characters appeared on BBC One’s Big Night In telethon last year.

However, the original programmes were pulled from BBC iPlayer, Netflix and BritBox amid objections to some of the ethnic characters the duo played.

Walliams’ comments to Gilligan were first reported by Radio Times.  The show airs at 10pm tonight.
