Paddington 3 confirmed
A third Paddington film has been confirmed today.
The new sequel will reunite director Paul King with Simon Farnaby, who co-wrote the second film with him.
Filming will start in late 2022, producers StudioCanal announced in Cannes today.
The 2014 family comedy, also directed by King, grossed $268 million worldwide on a $55million budget. and the 2017 sequel grossed $227million.
The previous films starred Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington with Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and Peter Capaldi in live action roles.
Nicole Kidman also appeared in the first film, and Hugh Grant in the second – earning a Bafta nomination for best supporting actor in the process – but casting on the new film is yet to be confirmed
The screenplay will be written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont, Variety reports.
