Jennifer Saunders to star in new Mike Myers series
Jennifer Saunders is to co-star alongside Mike Myers in a new Netflix series called The Pentaverate.
The Austin Powers star will play seven different roles in the series, about a secret society who have been working to influence world events since 1347.
In the show, an unlikely Canadian journalist becomes embroiled in a mission to uncover the truth and just possibly save the world himself, according to Hollywood bible Variety.
Its star-studded cast also includes Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe and Lydia West, although their roles are all under wraps.
Tim Kirkby, who has previously directed Stewart Lee’s TV work as well as an episode of Fleabag, will be behind the camera for the six-episode series.
Myers mentioned The Pentaverate in his 1993 film So I Married An Axe Murderer, when his Scottish character Stuart claimed the shadowy group comprised ‘The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went tits up.’
