This Country's Martin Mucklowe goes on tour

Live show from Paul Cooper

The father of Charlie and Daisy May Cooper is to tour with a live show based on his character in This Country.

Paul Cooper will be performing at least six dates this summer in the guise of Martin Mucklowe, Chortle can reveal.

Despite having no previous acting experience, Paul was cast as the feckless father of Daisy May’s character Kerry in the BBC sitcom his children created.

His alter-ego, who appears in eight episodes, is a heartless criminal happy to set his up his own daughter for the theft of a consignment of vacuum cleaners he stole. In another episode, he’s accused of being a Peeping Tom.

One reviewer called him ‘ sheer unadulterated evil… a completely amoral bastard of a man, a vain, scheming, fantasist criminal user’.

The new tour dates - which include a night at London’s historic 100 Club -  promise ‘a night of laughter, oaths, insults and banter from the peeper himself’.

Following his role in This Country, Paul has appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with his daughter, too – a break from his usual job as a hoarding expert, helping people overcome the mental illness behind the behaviour.

Last year a BBC Inside Out documentary followed him at work, saying he wanted to ‘remove the shame and stigma of hoarding’.
