Podcasts get mashed for Comic Relief

Comedians combine in fundraising efforts

A number of leading comedy podcasts have united for mashup episodes in aid of Comic Relief.

The hybrid episodes, which launched  today,  are:

  • Menus To Be Buried With: Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster combined with Films To Be Buried With Brett Goldstein. Goldstein, pictured, said: ‘I’m so excited to get Ped Bambles and the Genie on my podcast to discuss the pressing issues like the meal that meant the most to them and the sexiest meal they ever had.’
  • Hip Hop Saved The Horne Section: Alex Horne and The Horne Section  mashed up with Romesh Ranganathan’s Hip Hop Saved My Life. Horne said: ‘If this is what it’s like to do a mash-up then I’m a big fan of mash-ups. Combining our stupid podcast with Romesh’s niche one meant we both had to do half the work for twice the listeners; probably more for us, to be honest, because I think his is more popular. ‘
  • Toaster Questions Everything: Dane Baptiste Questions Everything combined with My Mate Bought A Toaster, hosted by fellow stand-up Tom Price. He said: ‘As is custom on Red Nose Day, I’m going to let some strangers go through my Amazon account, all in the name of charity. I can’t wait to let Dane and Howard [producer Howard Cohen] and find existential truths by looking through my shopping. Good luck to them; it’s mostly wires, batteries and freeze-dried raspberries.’
  • Drunk Women Caught RedHanded: Hannah Maguire and Suruthi Bala’s Red Handed mixed with Drunk Women Solving Crime with comedians Hannah George, Catie Wilkins and  Taylor Glenn. Wilkins said: ‘I’ve loved Comic Relief since I was a kid, and am so excited our tiny bit of nonsense gets to be a part of the big, collective nonsense.’
  • Emergency Questions With Joan And Jericha.  Julia Davis & Vicki Pepperdine’s spoof agony aunt programme Dear Joan and Jericha combined with Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast.

The mash-ups all come from podcast firm Acast and can be heard on the Comic Relief website, except for the Herring/Joan and Jericha podcast, which is here.
