Derry Girls series 3 to be filmed this year
The next series of Derry Girls will finally be filmed this year, star Nicola Coughlan has confirmed.
Channel 4 announced the commission of a new season of the1990s Northern Irish comedy way back in April 2019. However the filming, which was initially slated to start last summer, was put on hold indefinitely by the coranavirus pandemic.
Now Coughlan, who plays Claire, announced on Twitter: ‘Can confirm Series 3 of Derry Girls is filming this year and I cannae bloody wait
‘Covid has pushed back filming several times which has been so shite, but honestly the storylines in this series are the best we’ve ever done so I can’t tell you how worth it the wait will have been.’
The comedy’s creator, Lisa McGee, retweeted the comments.
In an interview with The Guardian just before Christmas, Coughlan also said: 'I’m not allowed to say anything about the scripts, but they’re just phenomenal. She’s a proper genius, Lisa is. Now I just really want to go and do it, and we can’t!'
Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell and Dylan Llewellyn are all set to return alongside Coughlan , who can currently be seen in Netflix hit Bridgerton as Penelope Featherington.
