Patrick Kielty to star in his first movie
Patrick Kielty is to draw on his stand-up roots in a new comedy movie set in Northern Ireland.
In Ballywalter, his first leading film role, the star will play a budding comedian whose marriage has recently broken up.
According to a synopsis reported by Screen Daily, his character is picked up by a woman who has dropped out of university and is now making a living as an unlicensed minicab driver. She’s played by Seána Kerslake from the Irish TV comedy Can't Cope, Won't Cope.
The movie, which has just finished filming in Belfast is the first from director Prasanna Puwanarajah, who played Ashley in BBC Two’s legal comedy Defending The Guilty.
It was written by Stacey Gregg, who has penned several stage plays.
