ITV to pay tribute to Billy Connolly
ITV is to pay tribute to Billy Connolly with a one-off special this Christmas.
To mark the comedian’s retirement from live performance, programme-makers interviewed him and his wife Pamela Stephenson at their home in the Florida Keys, which will air alongside classic stand-up clips.
Famous fans including Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Lenny Henry, Dustin Hoffman, Russell Brand Whoopi Goldberg, Aisling Bea and Sheridan Smith will all make contributions, sending Sir Billy personal messages and pick their highlights from his back catalogue.
The hour-long show, Billy Connolly: It’s Been A Pleasure… will air as part of ITV’s Christmas schedules, which will also include a tribute to Mr Bean to mark 30 years since Rowan Atkinson's alter-ego hit screens.
