Live At The Covid Arms hits a milestone

Virtual comedy gig Live At The Covid Arms has raised more than £100,000 for charity.

The landmark total for food bank operators The Trussell Trust was hit 12 weeks after the start of their weekly live comedy night.

In a statement, producers Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Jess Lea-Wilson, Jake Lea-Wilson said: ‘The Covid Arms started out as a bit of a joke, on a whim, and has grown into a positive community of people. 

‘Our punters have been so incredibly generous, and we are so proud to have hit this milestone. If you told us after our first show where we'd be now - we would never have believed you. Thanks to every single performer and punter for making this magical event what it is.’

As well as the money for The Trussell Trust - which last year provided 1.6million three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis - the club also helps support comedians who have lost their livelihoods for the foreseeable future  by offering payment to all comedians.

Acts to have taken part include Nish Kumar, Russell Howard, Daliso Chaponda, Tom Allen, Aisling Bea, Mark Watson, Sara Pascoe, Ross Noble, Rose Matafeo and Rhod Gilbert.

The Covid Arms also set a new Guinness World Record for ‘most visitors to a virtual pub’ for a pub quiz on last month.
