It's Mo' Gilligan
Channel 4 has ordered a second series of The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan.
Six new hour-long episodes have been commissioned following the success of the first series, which aired last summer and landed the comic a Bafta nomination for best entertainment performance.
Gilligan said: ‘This is incredible news. This was always a really bold, ambiguous project and I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved as a team.
‘I’d like to thank each and every person who has watched, supported and shared the show. You make Lateish the triumph it is, and I am so grateful. Time for more Nursery Grimes!
Channel 4 commissioning editor Tom Beck added: ‘Mo is an exceptional performer and an incredibly exciting entertainment star. We love working with him and couldn’t be prouder of his brilliant Bafta nod for series one of Lateish. I can’t wait to hear his ideas for series two.’
Guests in series one included Tyson Fury, Riz Ahmed, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer and Kelis.
The second series – made by Expectation and Gilligan’s own production company Momo G – will air next year.
Gilligan also fronted a live series of his All Star Happy Hour for the broadcaster during lockdown – even if technical gremlins forced the second episode on to Instagram Live rather than terrestrial TV.
