Covid won't stop Fleabag winning awards...

Another accolade from Canadian festival

Fleabag has another international TV award to add to its collection, after being named best English-language comedy at the Banff World Media Festival.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge's show saw off competition from fellow nominees Motherland, This Time With Alan Partridge and Aisling Bea's This Way Up.

The only non-British show in the category was Eygpt's Ramy about a first-generation Egyptian-American in New Jersey, caught between a Muslim community that thinks life is a moral test and a millennial generation that thinks life has no consequences.

Best comedy not in English was France's Mytho, also known as Mythomaniac about a suburban housewife who fakes having a tumour, which is available on Netflix (including an English dubbed version).

Canada's Baroness von Sketch Show won best comedy and variety show over other nominees including Romesh Ranganathan's The Ranganation. The programme also won the Canadian Award of Distinction.

Other winners included Gentleman Jack and Girl/Haji, for best drama in English and a foreign language respectively, and Chernobyl for best limited series.

Britain dominated the virtual event, which usually takes place in the Canadian ski resort of Banff, scooping 14 awards, compared with 11 for the US.
