BBC pulls Chris Lilley's blackface clips

...after initially refusing to bow to pressure

The BBC has quietly removed clips of Australian comedian Chris Lilley in blackface from its website.

Earlier today, the Corporation stood by the footage of the comic in character as black rapper S.mouse, dropping the n-bomb and singing about his ‘big black balls’.

A spokesman told industry website Deadline that the decision to remove Little Britain did not apply to other programming, including the clips from Lilley’s show Angry Boys.

But now they have vanished.

Lilley’s other comedies, Summer Heights High and We Can Be Heroes remain in iPlayer, although  Netflix has removed both shows plus his other comedies Angry Boys and Jonah From Tonga from their platform.

In We Can Be Heroes, Lilley plays Chinese physics student Ricky Wong, while in Summer Heights High and Jonah From Tonga he wore brown make-up to play the troubled schoolboy.
