Book deal for Michael Spicer

Secrets of The Room Next Door revealed

Michael Spicer has signed a book deal thanks to the success of his Room Next Door web series.

The comic – who won the internet category at this year’s Chortle Awards – will release  The Secret Political Adviser on October 1.

According to the blurb from publishers Canongate: ‘Little is known about the secret political adviser known as the Man in the Room Next Door - only a handful of people know his real name - but this explosive journal and collection of his correspondence offers a startling insight into his life.

‘It reveals the elusive organisation that employs him, as well as reams of information about working with clients such as Boris Johnson, Prince Andrew and Donald Trump.

‘From leaked documents to illicit communications, and day-to-day notes on the treacherous world he inhabits, The Secret Political Adviser is a window into the world of the most influential* political adviser on the planet.’

Spicer told trade website The Bookseller: ‘I am overwhelmed and very excited to be writing this book and I’m very grateful to Canongate for giving me the chance to do something each day during this lockdown other than destroy my children’s future by persisting with my wholly inadequate approach to home schooling.’

Last week, Spicer – a regular on The Mash Report –  made his American debut on James Corden’s Late Late Show

He has recorded more than 100 YouTube comedy sketches, amassing 4million views.

The Secret Political Adviser is available for order here.
