Comics up for LGBT awards
Hannah Gadsby, Joe Lycett, Susan Calman and Suzi Ruffell have been nominated in the British LGBT Awards
Gadbsy has been named one of the top ten LGBT celebrities thanks to her Netflix comedy special Nanette.
The citation talks about her difficulties in coming out as gay in Tasmania, and mentions her quote: ‘The only thing I knew how to do when I came out of the closet was to be invisible and to hate myself.’
Others on the list include Fleabag’s ‘hot priest’ Andrew Scott, model Cara Delevingne, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness and US comic and writer Lilly Singh.
Meanwhile Lycett, Calman and Ruffell are all shortlisted in the categoy for best journalist or broadcaster.
And Netflix’s Sex Education has been nominated for the top media moment for its portrayal of LGBT relationships.
