Inside Inside No 9

In this new podcast, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith offer a 'creators' commentary' on each new episode of their brilliant anthology series, which returned this week with an episode set in a referees' dressing room. ' They are joined int heir conversation, available on BBC Sounds, by co-star Ralf Little and producer Adam Tandy.

Late Night

Emma Thompson plays a late-night talk show host in this movie comedy, now on Amazon Prime. Faced with the threat of cancellation, her character hires a female staff writer (Mindy Kaling,who wrote the screenplay) with the hope of breathing life into the stale, male-centric writers room. The film was made by Amazon Studios but released in cinemas last year, where it got a generally favourable reception and earned Thompson a Golden Globe nomination.

Book Shambles

The episode recorded at last month's Chortle Comedy Book Festival at the British Library has been released, in which Robin Ince and Josie Long interview Les Dennis. They talk about his autobiography, Must The Show Go On and share tales of Little and Large, Tommy Cooper and favourite showbiz memoirs. Listen here.

Susan Calman's Mrs Brightside

The comedian returns for another eight episodes of her mental health and comedy chat-show podcast. In this second series she will chat about everything from OCD to toilet-anxiety with the likes of  Marcus Brigstocke, Sofie Hagen, Nick Helm,, Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Darren Harriott.

'There's nothing better than talking to brilliant people about what's going on inside their heads,' Calman says. 

The first series was released as a BBC podcast and featured appearances from Al Murray, Felicity Ward, Jordan Brookes, Sophie Willan, Bethany Black, Mark Watson, Jessie Cave and Jack Rooke. The second is a commercial venture out on Acast, with the first weekly episode - featuring Catherine Bohart - out now.  Listen to all the episodes here.

Whisky Galore!

The 2016 remake of the Ealing comedy, this time starring Eddie Izzard and Gregor Fisher has landed on iPlayer. Islanders on a remote island off the coast of Scotland go face-to-face with a stuffy English commander to recover 5‌0,0‌0‌0 cases of whisky from a wrecked cargo vessel.

Seinfeld

As we reported earlier this week, the first three series of the landmark sitcom have landed on All4, as part of a deal that will see a new season drop every Friday. Watch here.
