Americans to pilot their own version of Ghosts

CBS network advances the project

The American remake of Ghosts has taken a step closer to fruition.

The CBS network has a pilot episode of the new adaptation from New Girl’s executive producers Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, Hollywood website Deadline reports

The pair wrote a new script based on the original in which a young couple inherit a country house, only to find it’s haunted – but only the woman can see the ghosts.

It was created by the team behind Horrible Histories  – Mathew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond and Martha Howe-Douglas – who all will all be executive producers on the US version.

They also starred as ghosts on the BBC original alongside Lolly Adefope and Katy Wix, while Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe played the couple.

Filming has just begun on the second series, with the BBC having already ordered a  third.

That the CBS series was in development was first reported back in November.
