Radio 4 picks up Sue Perkins wildlife show
Radio 4 has picked up a nature-based comedy show fronted by Sue Perkins for a full series.
A six-episode series of Nature Table have been ordered following a pilot made last autumn. And like the trial, the new episodes will be recorded at London Zoo.
The show is the brainchild of comedy producer Simon Nicholls, whose credits include Bridget Christie’s Utopia, Ed Reardon’s Week and Genius with Dave Gorman.
He said: ‘I'm an enthusiastic nerd on wildlife - I'm a keen whale and bird watcher. I want to make something that's properly funny and informative at the same time - mixing wildlife experts with comics, while also hearing related funny anecdotes from the studio audience.’
Nature Table is described as ‘show-and-tell-type show where a mix of wildlife experts and comedians bring an interesting natural history object to the nature table as a starting point for an informative and funny chat - as well as entertaining games and challenges’.
The series will air from Monday February 10, in Radio 4’s traditional 6.30pm comedy slot, with episodes being taped from January 31. Click here to apply for free audience tickets before 10pm this Wednesday.
