Peter Crouch to host a comedy-entertainment show
Peter Crouch is to host a BBC One comedy entertainment series during the Euro 2020 football finals.
The 6ft 7in former England striker will be joined by a team of as-yet undisclosed co-hosts and celebrity guests over the 14 45-minute episodes.
He said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with the BBC and can’t quite believe this is happening. All I did was dance like a robot 13 years ago and now I’ve got my own actual TV show.’
The show, to air after the tournament’s matches in June and July, is being made by Fulwell 73, the company co-owned by James Corden whose credits include Comedy Central's Roast Battle
Each episode of Peter Crouch’s Euro Fest 2020 promises a live house band, games, video inserts and more, all filmed in front of an audience of football fans.
Executive producer, Gabe Turner said: ‘Crouch’s Euro Fest 2020 is an exciting new comedy entertainment format… It’s fun, irreverent and most importantly about the beautiful game - football.
‘We’re looking forward to unveiling the other names on the team sheet as soon as possible.’
The host will also be back for another series of That Peter Crouch Podcast on BBC Sounds and BBC Radio 5 Live early next year.
