Critics love Fleabag...

Comedy up for more awards in the US

Fleabag is up for four Critics’ Choice awards in the US.

The show, screened on Amazon there, is up for best comedy series, and creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is up for best actress.

‘Hot priest’ Andrew Scott is up for best supporting actor and  

Sian Clifford, who plays Fleabag’s sister Sian Clifford, who plays Fleabag’s sister is up for best supporting actress.

Meanwhile, in the best talk show categories, Brits John Oliver and James Corden are both nominated for their HBO and CBS programmes respectively.

The 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, chosen by more than 400 TV and cinema reviewers, will take place on January 12. The full shortlists in the comedy categories are below.

Nominations for the Writers’ Guild Of America awards were also revealed this weekend.

Up for best comedy are Barry (HBO), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, (Amazon);  PEN15 (Hulu): Russian Doll (Netflix) and Veep (HBO)

What We Do in the Shadows, whose writing team includes Peep Show’s Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, Inbetweeners co-creator Iain Morris, Flight Of The Conchords star Jemaine Clement, and director Taika Waititi has also been nominated for best new series.
