Brooklyn 99 gets an eighth series
Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been renewed for an eighth season – before the seventh has even aired.
The news cements a remarkable resurrection for Andy Samberg’s US police comedy after it was cancelled last year by the Fox network.
However, it was rescued by rival broadcaster NBC, where a seventh series – the second on NBC – will launch in February.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s official Twitter account posted: ‘Good things come to those who w8. The #Brooklyn99 squad will be coming back for Season 8 on NBC!’
The show last season attracted an average of 3.2million viewers per episode on the day of broadcast – 15 per cent up on its last run on Fox – with the figure rising to 6.4 million when catch-up viewing is taken into account.
Stephanie Beatriz, who portrays Rosa Diaz, said the renewal was a ‘dream come true’
The series – which also stars Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio and Melissa Fumero – is available on E4 and Netflix in the UK.
