COVENTRY: Pointless presenter Alexander Armstrong started his career in a comedy double act with Ben Miller. But kicking off at the Warwick Arts Centre tonight is, perhaps surprisingly, his first stand-up tour. It covers his life in entertainment – and there will be music. Click here for dates.

MANCHESTER: A fine selection of comedians - headed by telly favourite Jon Richardson assembles at the Frog & Bucket for a benefit for Acorn Recovery Services, which helps people with addiction problems. Also on the bill are Chris Washington, Harriet Dyer,Josh Pugh, Mandy Knight, Matt Forde and Mike Newall.

NOTTINGHAM: The city's comedy festival continues all week. Tonight's highlights include Desiree Burch's magical reality storytelling show Desiree's Coming Early at the Glee, plus some of the best bits from wry Radio 4 favourite Tom Wrigglesworth at the Canalhouse. Festival website.

Wednesday November 6

LONDON: Indian comedian Kanan Gill, who's built up a substantial online following, begins a four-night run at the Soho Theatre with Yours Sincerely, in which he weighs his current life against the goals he had set in a letter to his future self as a teenager.

Thursday November 7

LONDON: There's a great line-up at the Comedy Store all weekend, with tonight's bill boasting the ungimmicky stand-up of Adam Rowe, musical satirist Christian Reilly, smart Nigel Ng, playful Rhys James and Sally-Anne Hayward, MCing with an iron fist in a velvet glove.

Friday November 8

MANCHESTER: Promoters Show And Tell have secured a fantastic line-up of four top comics more than capable of touring in their own right for an unmissable night of stand-up at the Home venue: Larry Dean, Shappi Khorsandi, Suzi Ruffell and Tez Ilyas all bring the funny.
