Cold Feet gets a ninth series
Cold Feet has been recommissioned for a ninth series.
James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, Robert Bathurst, Fay Ripley and John Thomson will start work on six more episodes of the Manchester-based series later this year.
It will air on ITV next year and pick up the story of Jenny (Ripley) dealing with her cancer treatment and David (Bathurst) putting his life back together after finding himself homeless.
ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill said: 'The audience reaction to the last series was incredible with many saying it’s getting better with age. We’re pleased to be working again with [writer] Mike Bullen whose moving, funny, complex and absorbing scripts are a joy to commission.’
Bullen added: ‘I think we were all overwhelmed by the amazing response to the latest series. Jenny's cancer, in particular, seemed to touch a nerve with viewers. There are still stories to tell for these characters but I'm conscious that we've raised the bar. The delight at being recommissioned has already been replaced by trepidation at the weight of expectation.’
Five series of the comedy-drama originally aired from 1997 to 2003, before the show was revived in 2016.
