WOLVERHAMPTON: The annual benefit for the Central Youth Theatre always attracts a strong line-up,and tonight's no exception, hosted by the incomparable Daniel Kitson and with a bill that includes Edinburgh Comedy Award winners Rose Matafeo and John Robins (fresh from his Radio 5 live debut) as well as Darren Harriott, David O'Doherty, John Robins,, Tom Allen and local lad Tom Parry, a former member of the youth theatre. LONDON: More than 40 years since the first Secret Policeman's event, Amnesty has joined forces with the Guilty Feminist podcast for an almost all-women fundraising gig at the Hackney Empire. It's hosted by Deborah Frances-White and features an eclectic collection of comedians and actors including Konnie Huq, Francesca Martinez, Juliet Stevenson, Sindhu Vee, Desiree Burch, Sian Clifford, Ophelia Lovibond, Mum star Lesley Manville, Jessica Fostekew, Sophie Duker, Grace Petrie, Alison Spittle, Kemah Bob, Maria Munir and Siobhan McSweeney from Derry Girls. Funmbi Omotayo is the token bloke.

LONDON: A new season of Stand-Up Under The Stars gets under way in Battersea Arts Centre's open-air courtyard. The comics hoping it stays dry include Taskmaster star Phil Wang, Chortle Award winner Tom Ward and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominees Kieran Hodgson and Elf Lyons.

Thursday June 6

MANCHESTER: Liverpool success story the Hot Water Comedy Club makes an incursion along the M62, opening a night in the Impossible bar and theatre. On opening night, regular compere Paul Smith introduces Adam Rowe, Adam Staunton and Danny McLoughlin

Friday June 7

BOURNEMOUTH: Michael Palin starts a 12-night tour to coincide with the paperback publication of his book Erebus: The Story of A Ship. In the first part he speaks about the tough little ship that took on the Antarctic and the Arctic in the 1840s, and in the second tells his own life story, including some previously unseen footage and previously untold stories.
