Rhod Gilbert makes a documentary about infertility
Rhod Gilbert is making a new documentary about impotence.
Rhod Gilbert: Stand Up For Infertility follows a similar film on shyness he made for BBC One last year – and is based on his personal experience.
Much of his current tour show The Book Of John is about how he and his partner Sian may not be able to have children because of his low sperm count. He also details his often hilarious experiences of the medical processes he is undergoing.
Speaking about the issue in his stand-up show, he says: ‘Sperm count has fallen by 60 per cent across the Wester world. It could be the curse of modern living - it’s not just me, it’s a massive issue and men won’t talk about it.
‘I want to raise awareness – but I don’t want to be the poster boy for infertility.’
As part of the filming, Gilbert visited the Fertility Show where he met Louise Joy Brown, Britain’s first ‘test tube baby’.
Stand Up For Infertility is expected to air this autumn.
