This is the end, says Fleabag star

Third series ruled out

Fleabag will not be returning for a third series, one of its stars has revealed.

Sian Clifford, who plays Claire, the sister of Fiona Waller-Bridge’s lead character, said the final episode – which airs on Monday – is  ‘perfect’.

And she says it completes the story so well fans will understand why there shouldn’t be another series.

‘This is it. I think I’ve described it online as this beautiful, perfect ending and I think it is,’ she told BBC Breakfast.

‘I think what it’s closer to is poetry. I think people will accept that this is the end when they see it because it is complete.’

The current second series of six episodes came as a surprise when it was announced.

The first series, which was developed from a 2013 Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre show, became a breakout hit on BBC Three and was subsequently sold to Amazon Prime.

Waller-Bridge has since appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story and developed the hit BBC America drama Killing Eve, which starts in the States on Sunday.
