1.8million see Derry Girls return

And Channel 4's Home gets off to a solid start too

The much-anticipated return of Derry Girls attracted a strong audience to Channel 4 last night.

A total of 1.8million viewers watched to the comedy, well up on the  1.3million who tune in to the station at that time, on average.

Derry Girls gave a strong lead-in to the night’s other new comedy, Rufus Jones’s Home, about a Syrian asylum-seeker living with a suburban family

That attracted 1.1million viewers at 9.45pm, in line with the slot average but enough to mae the show Channel 4’s biggest new comedy since episode one of Derry Girls won 1.6million viewers in January last year.

On Monday, 1.5million saw Flebag’s return and 600,000 tuned in to Time Renkow’s new sitcom Jerk. But Martin Clunes’ Warren and This Time With Alan Partridge were both down 1.4million viewers each to 2.4million and 1.9million respectively.
