Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt could be back – as a movie
The last episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt have just dropped on Netflix – but we might not have seen the last of the irrepressible title character just yet.
Co-creator Tina Fey has revealed that a movie based on the hit series is ‘definitely a possibility’.
She told The Hollywood Reporter that the project would be ‘a stand-alone idea… if we do it’.
The final episode of the fourth season wrapped up the characters storylines, fast-forwarding to 2023 to show what happened to Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), Titus (Tituss Burgess), Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) and Lillian (Carol Kane). And it concluded with the caption: ‘The End’ – followed by ‘Dammit’.
But co-creator Robert Carlock told the trade website: ‘We believe there are more stories to tell, and hopefully there will be an announcement about that soon.’
And Kemper added: ‘I know we might go on to be doing a movie and I hope that that happens — I know it's not definite."
Carlock said he didn’t know if any movie that was agreed would be for Netflix or have a cinema release, but added: ‘I think it's probably just for the platform. Sometimes they do both, but I don't know if we've gotten down to crossing those Ts just yet.’
