'I feel pretty hated right now'
Inbetweeners star James Buckley has apologised to fans who felt let down by the New Year's Day reunion programme.
The star said he felt ‘pretty hated right now’ after a huge backlash to the nostalgia show, which ran for more than two hours on Tueday.
In an emotional tweet he said: ‘Feeling pretty hated right now.
‘I’m sorry to anyone who feels let down with last night’s show. I’m especially upset as it really is the fans that made the inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasn’t me. I might do an explanation video on my YT [YouTube], or might just leave it & move on #sorry.’
Co-star Blake Harrison was also assumed to be alluding to the criticism when he tweeted: ‘So, 2019 off to a good start.’
The Channel 4 ten-year reunion special was greeted by an overwhelmingly negative response – although some fans may have themselves to blame as they were convinced it was going to be a new episode, when it was only ever billed as a get-together.
But others complained about the format, the tone struck by host Jimmy Carr, and the apparent reluctance of the four key stars – also including Joe Thomas and Simon Bird – to be there at all.
