Amy Schumer arrested at Kavanaugh protest
Amy Schumer has reportedly been detained while protesting against Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.
The comedian was one of a number of demonstrators challenged by police for shouting and waving signs inside a senate office building in Washington.
During the protest she said: ‘No matter how this goes, they cannot keep us down. We will win. A vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don’t matter.’
A video shared on social media shows Schumer being directed into a group of other protesting women by a police officer who asks her: ‘Do you want to be arrested?’
She replies: ‘Yes.’
Police are said to have arrested hundreds of protesters once they refused to leave the Hart Senate Office Building. Model Emily Ratajkowski also reported that she was one of them.
Senators are expected to vote on whether to appoint him to the court on Saturday, despite Professor Christine Blasey Ford’s claims of sexual assault.
A single copy of an FBI report into the claims is being fought over by 100 senators, but investigators interviewed neither Kavanaugh nor Ford, prompting fresh claims from Democrats that it was incomplete.
Judge Kavanaugh has vehemently denied all allegations against him.
Here is @amyschumer telling cops she *wants* to be arrested.
