ALF set for a reboot

1980s alien comedy could be making a comeback

Eighties sitcom ALF has become the latest comedy set for a reboot.

The original, about a sarcastic extra-terrestrial with a penchant for eating cats who was taken in by a suburban family, originally aired over 102 episodes from 1986 to 1990.

Now producers Warner Bros are in the early stages of developing a revival, TVLine reports.

Trade paper Variety verified the story and said one possible scenario was that ALF- whose name is an acronym of Alien Life Force - has been held in the secretive  Area 51 for the past 28 years, and could now observe how the world has changed.

The news follows revivals of Roseanne and Will & Grace. And last month it was reported that a reboot of Frasier had been floated, too,

However, star Kelsey Grammer told Vulture yesterday: 'Honestly, I’m not sure it’s something I really want to do. We are discussing what is the right thing to try to do. What would make it interesting? That’s the nut that must be cracked.

No talent has yet been linked to the ALF reboot, so it is not clear what role puppeteer Paul Fusco, the voice behind the character as well as the series co-creator and writer, would have.
