Atlanta gets a third series
Donald Glover’s acclaimed comedy Atlanta has been renewed for a third series.
The decision from the FX network comes after the show has won two Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes, an AFI Award and a Peabody.
And Glover’s cultural capital has never been higher. The provocative video for his track This Is America, released by his Childish Gambino alter-ego, has attracted 248million views on YouTube in its first month.
The second season of his hit show, entitled Atlanta Robbin' aired in the States last month.
Nick Grad from FX said: ‘Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done. With Atlanta Robbin' Season, Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season.’
BBC Two just bought the rights to the first season, and first six episodes are currently available on iPlayer.
The new series will air in the US in 2019.
