Cancelled: Ed Weeks' US comedy
Ed Weeks’s US sitcom LA To Vegas has been cancelled after one season.
The British comedian had a regular role on the show, about the short-haul flights between the two cities.
He played Colin McCormack, a British professor of economics, who strikes up a romance with flight attendant Ronnie (Kim Matula) while making the trip every weekend to visit his son.
The show – executive produced by Will Ferrell and others – launched on the Fox network in January with 3.8 million viewers, but the figure had tapered off to 1.7million by the season finale earlier this month.
With LA To Vegas being axed, Fox has cancelled all of its existing live-action comedy series – including its controversial decision to drop Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was picked up by NBC the very next day.
Fox has other comedies in the pipeline for next season.
Before LA To Vegas, Weeks was known to American audiences through his role as Dr Jeremy Reed on The Mindy Project, and HBO's Project Greenlight, a documentary series about first-time filmmakers being given the chance to direct a feature film.
He started in comedy at Cambridge University, becoming president of the Footlights, and later forming a double act with Tom Bell, before moving to the States.
