Desire Desiree
The week's best live comedy...
Sunday May 6
BRIGHTON: The Fringe festival continues all week - check the website for full listing. But our picks for today are The Trouble With Scott Capurro at The Warren at 8pm; Stephen Carlin's Rise Of The Autistic at the Broadway Lounge at 7pm; and the caddish Troy Hawke at Caroline of Brunswick at 7.30pm.
Monday May 7
LONDON: American comic Desiree Burch brings her raw and raucous storytelling show Unf*ckable to the Soho Theatre all week, with stories of her past as a sex worker - and of dealing with a particularly weird and unwanted sexual advance in a different workplace. Read our review of the show that caused waves last year's Edinburgh Fringe here
Tuesday May 8
LONDON: Milton Jones is performing an intimate gig at Pizza Express in Holborn tonight, with support from the excellent Adam Bloom.
SOUTHAMPTON: There's a fun gig at the Mango Thai restaurant, with silly prop comics Raymond & Mr Timpkins Revue, toe-tapping musical comedy from Christian Reilly and local lad Colin Owens.
Wednesday May 9
LONDON: You can't go far wrong at the 100 Club on Oxford Street tonight, with a universally smart, savvy and funny line-up comprising Jamali Maddix, Nish Kumar, Rhys James and Suzi Ruffell.
LONDON: Meanwhile James Acaster, one of the best comedians of his generation, presents his latest show Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999 at the Underbelly in the shadow of the London Eye.
ALDERSHOT: Danny Baker is back on tour with Good Time Charlie's Back!, what's billed as his farewell show. But he's said that before so take that with more than a pinch of NaCl. Expect a good dose of showbiz anecdotes and chummy bonhomie in this 'uproarious whirligig of joy'. Full schedule
Thursday May 10
MANCHESTER: The Comedy Store has a strong bill all weekend, and this Thursday night gig looks like a special bargain at £12 to see on-form Aussie livewire Felicity Ward, laconic Canadian storyteller Tom Stade and dependably funny Justin Moorhouse. It gets even better on Friday and Saturday thanks to the posh, repressed Ivo Graham and perennially personable Larry Dean joining the line-up.
Friday May 11
LONDON: Cheeky one-line merchant Gary Delaney, stylish stand-up Rhys James and mischievous musical comic Rachel Parris make for an appealing night at Bush Hall, out west in Shepherds Bush.
