Arrested Development is back – as a remix
All of season 4 is recut into new episodes
The fourth season of Arrested Development is to be re-released – as a remix.
Creator Mitch Hurwitz has announced that he has re-edited the entire season, with the new version to be released on Neflix on Friday.
And he added that the long-awaited fifth season would be released ‘real soon’, too.
The original season 4 focused on one character per episode, a consequence of having to shoot around the limited schedules of the cast.
But now he has recut those 15 episodes into 22, with each one telling a self-contained story.
He said that the remix, entitled Fateful Consequence, was ‘an experiment to find out, well... I guess "if I could make some money".’
But he told fans the season contained ‘new jokes and a new perspective,’ adding: ‘I'm really excited about the final result.’
Friday is Cinco de Cuatro, a fake holiday in the Arrested Development universe that Lucille and George Bluth created in 1982 so their Hispanic staff wouldn't take May 5, a traditional Mexican holiday, as a day off.
