Dave renews fantasy comedy

Dave has commissioned a third series of James Buckley’s alternative universe comedy Zapped.

The former Inbetweeners star plays Brian Weaver, a simple office worker transported to the fantastical land of Munty – and the last series ended in a cliffhanger with Brian in chains and Paul Kaye's wizard Howell sent to Earth by

The show also stars Sharon Rooney, Kenneth Collard and Louis Emerick and is written by Dan Gaster, Will Ing and Paul Powell.

Six more 40-minute episodes have been ordered to air later this year.

Pete Thornton, the commissioning editor for Dave’s parent company UKTV said: ‘Zapped has now established itself as one of Dave's most popular programmes, and I'm absolutely delighted to be returning to Munty for another series of dazzling comic invention’

Steve Coogan, who is an executive producer on Zapped through his Baby Cow production company, said: ‘I can't wait to pull up a chair in The Jug And The Other Jug, pour myself a Ginger Steamer and maybe risk a slice of Herman's legendary fish pie as I rejoin my favourite Muntyites.’

Dave today also confirmed that its hospital comedy Porters was returning for a full series.
