Flight of the Conchords tour called off
Flight of the Conchords have cancelled the rest of their UK and Ireland tour, after Bret McKenzie broke his hand.
The injury may also delay the release of their forthcoming HBO special – as their shows at the London’s Eventim Apollo over the next three nights were to be filmed for the cable network.
McKenzie and Jemaine Clement had also been due to play gigs in Birmingham, Manchester, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds and Liverpool in the forthcoming tour – plus two more nights at London’s O2.
McKenzie said: ‘Unfortunately I’ve broken two bones in my hand today in a very rock ‘n’ roll injury – falling down some stairs.
‘The doctors have informed me that I won’t be able to perform for several weeks. I’m sorry not to be able to do these upcoming shows but I’m looking forward to coming back and finishing the tour when I have two fully functioning hands.’
Promoters say the gigs will be rescheduled and ticket holders should await further news
A statement added: ‘Bret and Jemaine are extremely sorry and deeply saddened that they cannot perform for their UK fans, who have waited so patiently.’
This tour, entitled Flight Of The Conchords Sing Flight Of The Conchords, had been their first UK and Ireland tour in seven years. Click here to read a review of an earlier date in Portsmouth.
