...in a new batch of Sky Urban Myths

Sketch duo Cardinal Burns play Status Quo in a new Urban Myth short about Live Aid.

This first picture shows Dustin Demri-Burns playing Francis Rossi and Seb Cardinal as Rick Parfitt in the film, part of a season of one-offs soon to be announced by Sky.

Another features Gemma Arterton as Marilyn Monroe while filming Some Like It Hot; and a third is based around  Princess Margaret’s relationship with Mick Jagger.

The Live Aid episode was inspired by a row between organisers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. When it emerged that Prince Charles and Princess Diana wouldn't be staying as long as previously thought, Geldof's Boomtown Rats moved up the bill at the expense of Ure's Ultravox.

But writer Neil Forsyth told Glasgow Live: ‘It's something everyone acknowledges happened… Midge Ure has been very open about it when talking about Live Aid, that it was an issue that left a lot of bitterness.’

Forsyth added that Live Aid was ‘a great way to bring in lots of iconic characters [into one story]… There are probably half a dozen infamous music industry urban myths about what was going on at Wembley that day. And I've managed to draw a lot of them through the story.’

Robin Hood star Jonas Armstrong plays Geldof, with Kerry Howard as his assistant Marcia Hunt. Line Of Duty’s Martin Compston is Ure and Rufus Jones is Elton John.

Forsyth also wrote the Princess Margaret film for the strand, which will star Trainspotting’s Kelly Macdonald as the Queen's younger sister and Jamie Campbell Bower as the Rolling Stones frontman.

The film tracks the rock star's friendship with the princess over 35 years, leaving open the possibility that they had an affair.

Forsyth told Glasgow Live that the film was ‘very respectful. It's largely about these two old friends meeting up in a beach bar in Mustique. Whether or not they had an affair is less interesting than the fact that these two iconic British characters had such a long friendship and railed against the world from this beach bar.’

As previously revealed, the film Marilyn and Billy will chart the screen icon’s relationship with the movie director, with James Purefoy playing Wilder.

Other previously announced stories are The Sex Pistols vs Bill Grundy, starring Steve Pemberton and written by Men Behaving Badly’s Simon Nye; When Bowie Met Bolan, starring Jack Whitehall as Marc Bolan and Luke Treadaway as David Bowie; The Dali and The Cooper, starring David Suchet as Salvador Dali and Noel Fielding as Alice Cooper; and Public Enemy feat. Kev Wells, about the rap group getting stranded in North Wales and starring Philip Glenister as the local who helped them out.
