They are more usually seen spoofing other people’s movies – but Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are now planning to make their own film together.

French said the pair are planning to put all of next year aside to work on the project – although they haven’t yet decided all the details.

‘Jennifer and I have a film idea that we’d like to do,’ the 60-year-old told Fearne Cotton on her new Happy Place podcast

‘What it really means is that she and I have got to say, "You know 2019, let’s just put it aside and work together and find something we want to do".’

The pair last appeared together at Christmas, with a 30-year retrospective featuring some new material.

And Saunders’ 2016 movie version of Absolutely Fabulous took $37 million at the box office
