Undead funny...
The best of the week's live comedy.
Sunday November 12
NEWPORT PAGNELL: Dry and inventive comic James Acaster continues the book tour for his collection of self-deprecation anecdotes, Classic Scrapes, at The Cannon tonight. Followed by The Nottingham Glee on Wednesday, Glasgow Oran Mor on Thursday and Aberdeen Lemon Tree on Friday.
Monday November 13
LONDON: Troublemaker Simon Brodkin is one of the guests on Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast tonight, no doubt sharing stories of his derring-do in pranking the likes of Theresa May, Donald Trump and Sepp Blatter. Joining him is a different sort of provocateur, Reginald D Hunter, sharing some languid comic philosophy.
Tuesday November 14
LONDON: Setting the horrors of the Evil Dead 2 to the songs of Elvis Presley is just the sort of inventive silliness the Edinburgh Fringe loves - and with its deft, knowing and charming execution by Rob Kemp made it THE cult hit of the festival. Now it arrives in London for a Soho Theatre run, at 9.30pm until Saturday - then a string of suitably late-night 11.30pm gigs at weekends through to January.
Wednesday November 15
LONDON: Taskmaster Greg Davies brings his stand-up show You Magnificent Beast to the capital, beginning a four-night run at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.
Thursday November 16
LONDON: A couple of prime provocateurs play The Tommyfield in Kennington this week, with Brendon Burns and Fin Taylor having track records for stirring liberal sensibilities on race and class. Lolly Adefope, also on the bill, is more playfully subversive with her character work - making for a strong bill.
MANCHESTER: It's a strong weekend at the Comedy Store, too, with avuncular Canadian schmuck Mike Wilmot and musical shenanigans from Rob Deering tonight, hosted by Danny McLoughlin. They are joined by sharp Ian Stone and fresh-faced Tom Lucy for Friday and Saturday's shows.
Friday 17 November
Saturday November 18
LONDON: Unfailingly funny Andrew Maxwell heads the bill at the Boat Show gig aboard the RS Hispaniola moored on the London embankment tonight. There’s also high camp with Stephen Bailey and much-tipped up-and-comers Adam Rowe and Huge Davies.
