Riordan DJ takes Chortle Student crown
Riordan Deehan Jackson won the 2017 Chortle Student Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe last night.
The 21-year-old, who goes by the name Riordan DJ on stage, takes home a £1,000 prize nd follows in the footsteps of previous winners such as Joe Lycett, Phil Wang and Adam Hess.
Originally from Exmouth, he studies medicine at the University of Bristol and in his act blends observational comedy with surreal one liners.
Second place, and £250, went to Jack Gleadow, who is studying for a BA in radio and television in Salford. In the past two weeks has also won the Amused Moose National New Comic Award and the new act competition run by the Great Yorkshire Fringe.
The other finalists at the sold-out Pleasance One were Dillon Mapletoft, Harrison Charles performing as arthouse film-maker Alexander Feisteisterberg , Luke Smith performing as Frank Foucault, Haydn Jenkins, Tony Wright and Sam Knights.
